A. Essential Components of a Strong
Paper:
1. Title: Well-thought-out and attention-grabbing;
more than just the general topic of the paper.
2. Introduction & Thesis Statement: Detailed background/context of the topic with a clear, well-articulated embedded statement of the central argument.
3. Body: Well-organized content with precise and descriptive headings and subheadings; use the following Level One Headings: Background, Analysis, Recommendations, Social Implications (positive and negative), and Conclusion.
4. Background : Historical context, definitions, statutes, policies, procedures, cases
5. Analysis : A rigorous discussion and analysis of the topic with ample relevant evidence, examples, statistics, or case study material to support the central and related arguments.
6. Recommendations: A discussion on how to fix the problem. Although you can take ideas from current programs, this section should also include an original component.
7. Social Implications: With the implementation of any new program, there will be implications that affect society. The goal is to have positive implications. However, sometimes negative implications (often unintended consequences) result. Discuss both the positive and social implications.
8. Conclusion: (This is not a summary.) Provide a commentary on the significance of the research and possible subsequent areas of research. Include any final thoughts.
9. APA Format: Citations (in text in the body of your paper) and References
10. Sources: An accurate and complete list of sources in APA format (minimum 20 academic sources).
11. Presentation/Grammar: The paper should be written using a professional tone in the third person (noun or pronoun). It should not be written in the first person (I, we, our, us) or the second person (you). Do not use contractions (don’t, can’t, that’s) or ask questions.
