The Essay:
Read: “The Story of An Hour” by Kate Chopin on pages 568-571
Read: “The Yellow Wallpaper” by Charlotte Perkins Gilman on pages 571-582
Read: “A Jury of Her Peers” by Susan Glaspell on pages 582-599
All three of these stories take place inside a house, and almost entirely within one room of that house (setting). Entering through a door or gazing out a window may play a significant part in the action (plot). Write an essay in which you focus on domestic space and women’s confinement in this period of U.S. history, comparing at least two of these stories.
I would definitely take some time to create a Venn Diagram comparing and contrasting the three stories to help you narrow it down to two stories (or you can address all three if you’re up for the challenge!).
When taking notes in preparation for the essay, map out the rising action, climax and denouement of each story. That will help you write, for sure.
This should be in MLA format
Minimum of 1,000 words.
No plagiarism (unless upon self-checking your own plagiarism score you see that it is due to quotations and your bibliography).
