Students will be required
to write a longer profile/report (2,000 to 2,500 words), drawing from original
research, data sources, reports, news sources, and possible expert interviews on
a particular situation of protracted displacement. The final essays will be due
by 12 p.m. on April 7th. They should include an overview (using data
sources) of the population, the history and conditions of their displacement, relevant
human rights and news reports, recent developments, the availability of
permanent solutions for group members, the perspectives (if possible) of
persons in these situations, and proposed policy ideas to address this
situation. These essays will constitute 60 percent of the final grade. They
should be cited, using Chicago Style (17th edition) footnotes: https://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide/citation-guide-1.html.
A bibliography is not necessary.
