Schizophrenia is a complex mental disorder, which challenges individuals cognitive and emotional stability. This disorder underscores the necessity for comprehensive understanding, effective treatment, and societal support to mitigate the affected individual and their families. Schizophrenia is one of the most severe mental disorders. Schizophrenia can also vary by the person, meaning it affects people in different ways. According to Helen Lavretsky (2008) “History of Schizophrenia as Psychiatric Disorder” states, “ The early onset of the disease, most often occuring between ages 15 and 30 years, and its chronic course make this a particularly disabling disorder for patients and their families”(2008). This states that people between the ages of 15 and 30 are likely to become schizophrenic  and this mostly disables the individuals and their families. In the 19th century schizophrenia was defined as early dementia by a French psychiatrist named Benedict Augustine. Lavretsky (2008) states “ The most common psychotic symptoms were hallucinations occurring in all sensory modalities, but most commonly “hallucinations of hearing”. Back in the 1900s the most common effects were hallucinations of hearing things which caused them to think dementia.
