Throughout this course, you will complete two essays. This essay will focus on McCrae and
Costa’s Big Five personality factors and diversity. It will also include biblical integration and
scholarly references. Understanding the connection between the theories you are studying, and
the Scriptures is vital.
INSTRUCTIONS
In each essay you will:
● Answer the prompt with at least 500 words of content.
● Be sure to use current APA formatting through the assignment.
o A title page is not required, but a reference page is required.
o Please use third-person writing for this essay with the exception of the personal
application section.
● Include at least four references in total.
o The required Han and Pistole (2017) article.
o One additional scholarly journal article is required (published within the last 5
years)
o The textbook must be included as a reference.
o The Bible must be included as a reference.
o Be sure to use in-text citations throughout the essay.

page and vice versa.
Essay Prompts:
Essay: Costa and McCrae: Review the section in Chapter 13 titled “In Search of the Big Five”
and the article “Big Five Personality Factors and Facets as Predictors of Openness to Diversity”
(Han & Pistole, 2017). Review the “Fruits of the Spirit” found in Galatians 5:22-23.
Using Han and Pistole’s (2017) research as a foundation, select one of Costa and McCrae’s Five-
Factors and discuss how this factor relates to an open attitude toward diversity. Include
information from your additional research as well. Think about what you read in Galatians 5.
How can you implement what you learned about openness to diversity in your own life?
