One of my favorite things to do is to read the comments after I’ve read an article. I find it fascinating what people feel they need to communicate especially when it’s is not face to face communication. Sometimes comments are insightful, sometimes funny or sometimes down right insulting and rude. Please read the article The Psychology of Online Comments. by the New Yorker and then answer the following 3 questions in paragraph form. (Answers don’t need to come from the article)
One paragraph per question (at least 5 sentences), except for question A as I realize you may not be able to answer in 5 sentences.
Answer the following questions:
Have you ever commented on an article/blog? What motivated you to comment or not comment?
How are Maslow’s hierarchy of needs discussed in the chapter met via by writing comments online?
Explain how the communication process (from the transactional communication model shown within the chapter) relates to article writing/commenting. *Hint watch the lecture video on the modules.
