just Q1 work breakdown structure
The “D.U. Singer Hospital Products Corp.” case is found in the text on pp. C42-C45 (in the Cases section). You will submit one cohesive PowerPoint Presentation of what would be the Project Charter, which consists of the elements listed as 1-6 at the end of the case (also summarized below). The situation is a company looking to develop a new, long-term antiseptic to be used in hospitals. They want to enter the market as soon as possible. If someone on your team is familiar with Project Management Software, you are welcome to use it. The case is small enough that you can do things in Excel and by making charts in PowerPoint if needed. The elements of the project charter you must prepare and submit are:
Work breakdown structure
An AON (PERT) network
Identify the critical path and its duration
An activity list, early-start schedule, slack list, and master schedule (assume activities with slack all start on their “early-start” date)
A graph of the Labor requirements per time period for each group and for the whole project* (the per group Labor req’s are already given in the file below)
A graph of Cash Flow requirements per time period* (assume $600/wk for Labor and assume Material & other direct charges are uniformly distributed throughout each activity)
*Note that Exhibit 1 shows Labor Requirements and Material Costs per group per activity. Through a tedious manual process (or with a good proj mgt app!) you can take this information along with the master schedule you created for part D to parse the data and recombine it into Labor Requirements and Material Costs per group per time period (we will use 4-week intervals as our periods). For this problem, I have created this table for you. It is NOT the final table needed to complete parts E and F, but it is the difficult step. Be sure to use it then produce tables for Labor req’s per time period and Cash Flow req’s per time period before creating the graphs for parts E and F.
