Your goal is to create a journal response in relation to your understanding about the times and topics discussed throughout this course and their impact on today.
Your submission should be at least 500 words in length. APA formatting is not required for this assignment, but any sources used will need to be cited and referenced per APA guidelines.
As we know, history is alive through the connection between historical events and contemporary events that allow us to recognize, reflect, and apply the opportunities or challenges that arise. The varying culture and characteristics of the many native, migrated, or settlement people that eventually called the United States home also influenced how American civilization evolved and rose to meet challenges.
For this journal, you will discuss the historically influenced evolution of American civilization. Identify and briefly describe each prompt below. Also, give an example of a significant historical event that directly affected each.
A specific pre-Columbian culture: Include its distinctive tribal attributes.
A specific colonial era settlement: Include their distinct regional characteristics.
A specific early state or city settlement: Include the impact of foreign and local governments on civilian morale over time.
A specific Civil War era state or city: Include the influence of political parties on its society, government, and cultural evolution.
Then, for each group, in light of these events and what you know about each society, discuss what we, as a society, have learned or taken from each of these historical societies that can be clearly seen in our current world.
Finally, include one example of how new technology changed the evolution of gender and social roles within one of your identified societies, and how the impact of that change is still seen today.
