Elderly people suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s disease are always a subject that I enjoy researching.  I have been a hospice nurse for nine years and have educated many people on when to seek evaluation for their loved one, subsequently receiving more services and assistance. Using the Walden Library/EBSCO, I searched “Dementia” and “United States.”  Once you understand how to use the Walden Library platform, you will find it user-friendly.  Being able to change the dates in the box and selecting “peer-reviewed” narrowed down my search.  The article I chose aims to rank social determinants of health (SDOH) previously linked to Alzheimer’s Disease and Related dementia (ADRD). Using a nationwide dataset of 3,155 counties in the U.S., machine learning techniques were applied to characterize the relationships between various SDOH and ADRD, rank these SDOH by their relative contribution to prevalence prediction to the model, and examine how different socioeconomic groups are affected by ADRD. The findings will facilitate the development and implementation of targeted policies to decrease the risk of ADRD at the county level (Ciciora et al., 2024).  The article was provided by ELSEVIER/Science Direct but brought to me by the Walden Library and my search.
The Walden Library database is helpful, and I highly recommend it when searching for “peer-reviewed, scholarly journal articles.”  It makes the process smooth, and there is never a question of whether the article you choose is an actual journal article or if the Walden Library is used.
