Workshop 5 is designed to help you outline Essay 3 (step 1 and 2) as well as a b

Workshop 5 is designed to help you outline Essay 3 (step 1 and 2) as well as a body paragraph (step 3). The reasons from step two below will become the focus of your body paragraphs.
Respond to all three prompts below.
Write a thesis statement that makes a claim that directly answers your research question (RQ). Begin your thesis with, Building on current research, I argue that…[answer your research question directly with a position on the topic.]
In complete sentences, write a list of three reasons or ways that your claim is “true.” The goal is to write these in your own words so you can use them as topic sentences in Essay 3. This will also give you an outline for Essay 3.
Take your one best reason or way from step #2, and using evidence from a strong source, write a body paragraph that you can use to support your thesis in Essay 3. Your body paragraph should include:
Topic sentence that states a reason why/how your claim is “true,” written in your own words.
Evidence from your source(s) in the form of quote, paraphrase, summary, statistics, case study, or anything else that will convince the reader your reason/topic sentence is persuasive.
Explanation in your own words of how your evidence supports (proves) and illustrates (shows) your reason/topic sentence is convincing.
