Instructions
Read through Matthew 2 at least three times at one sitting.
Then, following the IBS procedure
outlined in lectures and in the textbook (pp. 143-158) to
complete a Segment Survey of Matthew 2 using the following as an outline for
developing the survey. 6 pages in length.
1) Give a brief and unique title to each paragraph within
Matthew 2.
2) Locate and identify the main units and sub-units and the
Major Structural Relationships
(MSRs) at work within the segment as a whole (only those
that control at least 50% of the
segment 2:1-23).
3) For each MSR identified, ask a few interpretive questions
including definitional, rational,
and implicational questions.
4) Identify and note the key verses and strategic areas that
provide insight into the MSRs
previously identified.
5) Identify the literary form(s) employed in the segment.
6) Note other major impressions related to the segment as a
whole.
Attached are templates for how to formal the paper along
with citing the sources.
