produce a screenplay transforming a children’s fairytale. Through their writing
students will demonstrate their understanding of the conventions of a screenplay.
TASK OUTLINE 
In
order to complete this task successfully, you will need to complete the
following:
1.      
Select one of the following
prompts and create a screenplay for a film adaptation’s opening scene:

Hansel and Gretel
·       
Jack and the Beanstalk
·       
The Red Shoes
·       
Princess and the Pea
·       
The Pied Piper
·       
The Emperor’s New Clothes
·       
Little Red Riding Hood
·       
The Ugly Duckling
·       
Rumpelstiltskin
2.     
Follow screenplay conventions
as discussed in lessons. These include sluglines, action lines (use this to add
lots of descriptive writing), character cues, and dialogue.
3.     
Additional things to consider:
·       
Genre (e.g. romance, horror, sci fi, historical, western,
fantasy, thriller, disaster, action, etc.)
·       
Characters: especially your main character and point of view
·       
Mood
·       
Tone
·       
Theme(s)
·       
Setting
SUCCESS CRITERIA 
·       
Include
and organise the structural elements of
a screenplay accurately.
·       
Apply knowledge of audience and genre
in creation of screenplay.
·       
Create a screenplay utilising the key
elements (ensuring descriptive language is used).
·       
Develop strong dialogue to build characterisation
and action.
