The largest portion of your grade will be awarded for a research paper due at the end of the semester. Again, the choice of topic will be open, but you must clear your choice with Dr. Wadden before proceeding. The differences between this research paper and the presentation papers are that a) the research paper should be 2000 words long, b) the research paper should engage with both Thucydides and Herodotus, looking at how each of them handles the same theme or approaches the same problems of inquiry, and c) for a research paper you may want to do further research beyond these two books. This is not necessary, but may raise your paper to a higher level. There are several useful books available in the BAC library, and more resources available online.
