Write a 1500-word report assessing two paired health-
related brochures/posters with reference to the level of
health literacy is required to understand them. You may
comment on any relevant features comparing the two, e.g.
font, graphics, vocabulary etc. but must include a
quantitative analysis using the SMOG or a similar method for
assessing reading level.
Your report must be structured as follows:
• Introduction – explain the topic of health literacy,
provide background literature and outline the aim/s
of the report.
• Method – describe procedures taken to assess
brochures/posters. Provide sufficient
details/instructions for an independent person to
repeat this methodology.
• Results/findings – describe the results.
• Discussion – compare and contrast the brochures,
focusing on similarities/differences, connect the
findings to previous literature.
• Conclusion- outline main findings identified in the
report. Make recommendations about the
appropriateness of the brochures/posters for the
target audience.
• References – APA 7 style
To gather information and prepare for your report, please
complete the following steps.
Step 1: Read health literacy literature. Make notes of points to
use in your report.
Step 2: Choose a pair of brochures/posters from those on Canvas.
The pairs are on the same health condition so make sure you do not mix and match from different pairs.
