Select ONE of the pieces that we have read this week (Mairs, Ehrenreich or Sedaris) and, in an essay of at least 1000 words, discuss TWO possible audiences to whom the author may be writing and the author’s expectation of the selected audiences. You may use your work from the previous week as one of the audiences that you analyze, so you will need to identify at least one more audience. (Remember: No General Audiences. Be Specific.)
Your introduction should identify the author and title of the article, as well as the two audiences that you will discuss. Your introduction should also engage the reader.
Remember to include a thesis statement that makes a value judgment regarding something about the audiences. You could focus your thesis on why those audiences were selected, how well each audience is addressed, how similar or different the audiences seem, or any number of other ideas.
The body of the essay should deal with each audience as a separate entity. Don’t mix the two and run the risk of confusing the reader.
This essay should be a minimum of 1000 words.
