A clearly stated thesis (what you’ll prove) derived from your analysis of at least two primary sources (what the sources tell you together) in the introductory paragraph.
Body paragraphs in which you support the key aspects of your thesis using evidence from the primary sources. Keep quoting to a minimum. In this short paper, at least 85% should be your own writing (or paraphrased evidence from the sources), and no more than 15% of the text should be direct quotations from the sources.  How to properly paraphrase: How to ParaphraseLinks to an external site.
A concluding paragraph in which you suggest why what you’ve shown is significant in some way.
Clear citation of all sources (history majors: use Turabian. Others can use APA or MLA) and a bibliography or works cited page (not included in the word count).
