The theme of the research paper is: How did Black Women teachers engage in activism and what was their role as advocators that improved Black students’ educational experiences?
1) Establish the claim that Black women teachers have been pivotal to the growth of (Black) students.
2) Post-Civil Rights (1965-1990)
3) Successfully show and argue the critical role of northern Black women educators in the post-Civil Rights era.
Expected Outcomes and Dissemination:
The findings of this project will contribute to a better understanding of how Black women teachers (K-12) in the North have been impacted by the Post Civil Rights Movement (1965-1990) and an understanding of their engagement and their role as advocators that improved Black students’ educational experiences. This project will be successful because it will focus on the topic of the research paper.
