My project idea is focused on addressing the disconnect between veterinary clinics and animal safety organizations. Currently, if a veterinarian suspects animal abuse with one of their patients, there is no easy and accessible way to report the issue or escalate to the necessary authorities. The goal of my project will be to create a training presentation for my clinic (Banfield Pet Hospital) to guide veterinarians on the steps they should take to report cases of animal cruelty and ensure an effective and timely intervention.
i would also suggest with the presentation to include an idea to create a resource binder. This is often what I recommend to practices that I work with, especially something as mundane as collecting photos of driver’s license is essential to support law enforcement. Creating that standard as an intake process is easy too.

A written preface explaining how you thought through and addressed each of the bullet points above, as well as why you chose your particular topic.
Given careful thought to the gaps (we call this “needs assessment”)
Used the readings and other sources as applicable to identify best practices, but also introduced your own ideas (noting the difference between what has been tried already and what you are suggesting be tried for the first time)
Incorporated your own background and perspective (I am a Vet Assistant and I work with various doctors)
Thought about how to convey what you are presenting in the way that will be most readily embraced by your target audience. Your work will be evaluated not only on its technical merit but also on its potential to be understood and used by your intended audience.
Addressed animal cruelty in its connection to interpersonal violence, not just animal cruelty in isolation. Remember, this course is about the Link.
Considered reciprocity: What can you/your agency/your field learn or gain from your target audience? What can you do to help them further their own goals in their own work? This applies whether you are working with your peers or another profession.
Produced something that reflects the considerable amount of time we have allotted for you to work on this project. There is no set length for any of the project components: bear in mind that length does not automatically equal quality, and that writing/presenting with brevity and clarity can be more effective (yet far more difficult to achieve) than unbridled wordiness. We will be looking foremost for evidence of effort and thoroughness. If you are creating a training, we will want to know your rationale for the length you have chosen.
