Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to demonstrate your understanding of a scholarly journal article. An important skill for almost any profession is the ability to understand and summarize research. Certainly, this will be important in your academic career. If you are in the field of business, you may have to read and understand economic research. If you are in the medical field, you may have to read research on certain treatments or procedures. It is always better to go to the original source of information rather than reading someone’s opinion of the information.
Note:  This assignment contains several parts beginning with the viewing of a video regarding what a scholarly article is and how to read and review it.
Please watch the linked video, which gives you some tips on how to read and summarize a scholarly article.  Once you have viewed it, you will follow the instructions below on how to complete and submit this assignment.

The following sections of the article will be used to find the information required to complete the assignment. You will use the article to address these areas of the assignment.  Remember to use the template to complete the assignment.
Article Information. At the very beginning of the article, you will find the authors’ names, the year of publication and the name of the journal in what the article was originally published. (5 points)
The introduction. This is considered the literature review of the article where you will be able to find the information regarding the research the authors discussed that helped shape their research. Within the introduction, you will also find the hypothesis or specifically what the researchers were investigating or better trying to understand to frame their research. Note: there are two parts in this section to complete.
1 – You will need to write a 250-word summary of the Introduction section. Do not use direct quotes or copy and paste. Write the summary in your own words. (15 Points)
2 – Write the hypothesis that the authors’ developed for this research article. (5 points)
Method. This is where you will find information about how the authors did their research. Pay attention to the sections on Participants and Measures. You will need to know information about the participants in the study and about the measurement tools (scales) the researchers used. (5 Points for participant information and 5 points for measurement information).
Results. There is no graded aspect to this section, but it is good for you to see the statistical analysis involved in completing this type of research project. Those of you who are planning to major in psychology will need to develop an understanding of statistical analysis, not only for your research but also to be able to fully understand the many research studies that you will be required to read. No answer is expected in this section.
Discussion. This section is where the researchers draw their conclusions from what they have presented earlier in the study. Write a 250-word summary of the conclusions the authors have drawn from their research. Do not use direct quotes or copy and paste. Write your summary in your own words.  Note:  This section is NOT YOUR OPINION of the research, but it is that of the researchers.   (15 Points)
