19. Essay Question #1: (20 points)
Stephen, a member of your church, has signed up to be the liturgist for a Sunday worship service in Advent. Unfortunately, Stephen knows very little about writing prayers and knows even less about the season of Advent. Write an email to Stephen that (#1) introduces him to Advent—including its historical foundations, its theological emphases, and some practical-liturgical insights (i.e. liturgical colors, music selections, etc.). After introducing him to Advent, (#2) teach him how to pray in the style of a Collect, then (#3) provide an example of an *originally-composed Collect that reflects the themes of the Advent season. (700-1000 words)
*originally-composed = YOU wrote it.

20. Essay Question #2: (20 points)
Eugene and Shayla are getting married at your church on November 1st, which is All Saints Day. You are the officiant. They have expressed a desire for Holy Communion to be administered at the wedding, but they only want those on stage to receive (the couple, the groomsmen, the bridesmaids, the parents of the bride and groom). They believe inviting the whole congregation to receive would take too much time and that it would distract them from the focal point of the wedding: the couple. Drawing from This Holy Mystery and other relevant class materials, craft a pastorally sensitive response to this couple, that does the following:
(#1) Explains the purpose and meaning(s) of (A) Holy Communion AND (B) a Wedding service in the United Methodist Church.
(#2) Explains how a wedding AND a service of Holy Communion is especially relevant to the themes of All Saints Day. (700-1000 words)
