this is what I have started
For this paper you will conduct an observation of a situation that demonstrates a concept we have learned about within the topics of classical conditioning, operant conditioning, or social-cognitive theory. This task is very broad -but purposely so. Across the behavioral theories we have learned about, there are various examples of learning you can observe throughout daily life. Conduct an observation in a public place where you can witness an example of a specific concept we’ve covered in class. You will then write a brief summary of your observation and how it acted as an example of that concept. Across the behavioral and social cognitive theories, there are many concepts we’ve covered, so pick something that interests you.
A good way to format your paper would be to
Start with an opening paragraph that introduces your paper.
This paper examines children’s behavior in a public setting and discusses elements of the social cognitive theory. It illustrates how the environment, the use of modeling, and nonoccurrence of punishment influences learned behaviors. Many variables influence behavior according to social cognitive theory, including the environment, person, and behavior and each set of these variables influences the other two.
Identify and briefly review the behavioral theory/concept you will discuss
Social cognitive theory
Spend a paragraph or two describing your observation,
During a visit to a park, I observed a mom and three children. The children’s ages were approximately 6-year-old boy, 4 year old girl and she had an infant. The children were playing at the park and the boy got a sandwich and the girl started to chase him and wanted that sandwich. The mother explained that there were other sandwiches, however the girl chased the boy. The girl hit the boy yelled and the mother told the girl to get another sandwich. The mother asked the girl to stop and stated to the girl she must be tired and there is plenty of food. Later when leaving the park the boy appeared upset screaming that he did not want to leave and forcibly got in front of the stroller with the infant in it stating that he did not want to leave he was not finished. The mom asked what else did he have to do. His behavior of pushes the stroller, yelling, and repeating not wanting to leave continued as the mom attempted to get the children in the car. The mom asked the child to stop and stated I do not want to get angry with you here. The behavior continued until the family left.
Spend a few paragraphs discussing how the observation relates to or demonstrates the concept(s) from class. This is an important part of the paper and a great opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge.

End with a 1 paragraph summary.
You must follow the ethical guidelines listed below. This paper should be approximately 2-3 pages, double-spaced, APA style (no title page is necessary). Be sure that you use your own words to describe and discuss the theories. If you directly quote the text, use APA style for quotations. Directly copying language from the book is considered plagiarism. Please upload the final paper to Canvas in Word or PDF form. Ethical Guidelines
Option A) Observation in a public place
Observations must occur in public where there is no expectation of privacy (i.e., the grocery store, shopping mall, campus, etc). Sitting on a bench in a park or other public space is a great place to gather observational information. Do not observe behavior in a medical, religious, or other private setting.
The participants must remain completely anonymous. Do not gather any identifying information or report a participant’s identity in your paper.
Do not interact with the individuals you observe or interrupt any day-to-day activities with your observations. You may take notes, but absolutely no filming or audio recording. Also, make sure your observations are discreet. No one should feel like you are watching them.
