Theoretical Analysis Paper
Students must submit a short theoretical analysis paper (approx. 5 to 8 pages in length) discussing the role of popular culture within the academic and theoretical discourses of international relations. Students will be expected to compile a bibliographical list of sources following the citation style of their choosing. This paper will be due on July 7th at midnight.
Points will not be deducted for going a few pages over the limit, but there will be a penalty to falling below. The paper should be double spaced, formatted in 12-pt font, and use an easily readable style (Times New Roman, Calibri, Helvetica, etc.). Student can choose the citation style of their preference, but must maintain consistency and use the same style for the entire paper.
The paper should follow the standard format of an academic a paper and include: an introduction, a hypothesis, thesis, and/or research question, focused analysis, a conclusion, and a bibliography/works cited list. A title page is not required, but highly encouraged. Please note: the title page and bibliography/works cited list will not count towards the overall page count.
The paper will answer the following prompt:
Consider the debate surrounding popular culture’s inclusion within IR study.
What are the arguments in favor of popular culture’s inclusion?
What are the arguments against popular culture’s inclusion?
What implications does this discussion have for traditional IR scholarship?
