Research the following issues in the voice of your ideology – as provided by the

Research the following issues in the voice of your ideology – as provided by the Pew Ideology Survey taken at the beginning of the semester. Research should come from reputable sources (Wall Street Journal, New York Times, ABC News, etc.) to support your argument on the following topics. The stances of prominent political candidates from your party ideology, literature, debate transcripts as well as issues discussed in class should inform your paper.
Please prepare at least 2 paragraphs on each of the 4 topics (a paragraph for Dr. E is 4 OR MORE SENTENCES), double-spaced, 12-point font, with at least 2 references PER TOPIC (to be listed in a bibliography or works cited page at the end of the paper) to submit to me the day of the debate via email. The paper should address the questions posed below and/or your stance on the issue supported by your chosen resources. Please cite your sources throughout your paper and then create a comprehensive list of sources at the end of your paper.
For example:
In the paper: “Cruz noted that American policy toward ISIS should be to carpet bomb the region” (Smith 2015).
In the Works Cited page: Smith, A. 2015. “Cruz foreign policy memo.” New York Times. April 2.
Debate Topics:
·       Crisis in the Middle East: Starting with the Islamic State in 2014, the U.S. has been continuously mired in Middle East politics. What should America’s response to radical terrorism be? How has the withdrawal from Afghanistan deteriorated relations in the Middle East; where does Israel/Palestine fit in?)
·       Immigration Reform (What is the best immigration policy/fix? What should America do with the illegal immigrants within its borders? Should the U.S. build a wall to secure its borders?)
·       Legalization of marijuana (As more states are voting to legalize, should the federal government amend law to match? What should drug policy look like in the future? Would taxing the drug help state economies? What about the social aspect? Does legalization lead to greater acceptance, thus the gateway argument?)
·       The Electoral College (Is this institution still relevant in the modern day? Can we replace it, if so, with what? How does this institution help or hurt the democracy? Is there a way to provide for direct democracy?)
