Narrative Assignment I asks students to write about their personal narrative from birth to 17. Throughout their personal narratives, students will demonstrate their knowledge by incorporating discussion of theories of learning and personality development, explain how systems, issues, cultural experiences, and attitudes impacted their development, and identify strategies, systems, and/or issues that have promoted or impeded optimal development, identify cognitive, emotional, and social development through the use of theories and concepts learned in class, and discuss the impacts of chronic and acute trauma on individuals and their unique context across the lifespan. Assignment Description:
Personal reflection is essential in learning. Over the course of the semester, you will be writing two short narratives (4-5 in length) in APA style on your own development. Narrative Assignment I will cover birth through age 17. Narrative assignments will be graded individually by the instructor according to the attached rubric. 
For specific directions, see below:
Students will apply theories of learning and personality development to their own growth over their life span.
Students will explain how systems, issues, cultural experiences, and attitudes have affected their development.
Students will identify strategies/systems/issues that have promoted or impeded optimal development.

Students will identify their cognitive, emotional, and social development. Relative theories (such as those of Piaget, Erikson, Freud, Kohlberg, Vygotsky, etc.) and concepts should be identified and cited in the body of the paper as support for the discussion.
