Directions ►For this Discussion Post you will start the research process for your final essay. First, you should use the lecture and the skills that you honed from last class to try to find three sources that will support your argument. With these skills, you must find at least 2 academic sources to support your Proposal/Essay’s overall. An academic source can be found by using our library databases and only looking for “Scholarly” or “Peer Reviewed” sources. (SEE PPT/Lecture) You will then write a small paragraph underneath each source, where you summarize each source, evaluate the author’s claims, and discuss how you will use these sources for your argument. (Summarize, Assess, and Reflect!). Summarize: Some annotations merely summarize the source. What are the main arguments? What is the point of this book or article? What topics are covered? If someone asked what this article/book is about, what would you say? The length of your annotations will determine how detailed your summary is. Assess: After summarizing a source, it may be helpful to evaluate it. Is it a useful source? How does it compare with other sources in your bibliography? Is the information reliable? Is this source biased or objective? What is the goal of this source? Reflect: Once you’ve summarized and assessed a source, you need to ask how it fits into your research. Was this source helpful to you? How does it help you shape your argument? How can you use this source in your research project? Has it changed how you think about your topic? Your should have 3 Annotations in you Annotated Bibliography. 2 of your sources MUST be scholarly, while the third source can be anything: YouTube, X, Newspapers, etc. Your citations should be in alphatical order and you should have the paragraph underneath each directly discssing the source.
