There are many different sides to this issue and there are also many different stakeholders involved. While you brainstorm and outline your ideas, keep the following in mind:
What benefits are currently in place for student athletes;
What benefits come with a pay-for-play system?
Should only revenue sports be considered for pay?
How does a pay-for-play system affect existing amateur/professional eligibility rules?
Consider the perspective of the colleges and what benefits they already bestow upon their student athletes; and
Consider the perspective of the student athletes and their needs;
Should we pay our college athletes? Which athletes? All athletes? Should this be voluntary? If not voluntary, what kind of mandate (NCAA/NAIA/JUCO) could be arranged to ensure fairness?
