If you are unable to secure a child interview subject, you can use this sample A

If you are unable to secure a child interview subject, you can use this sample ASQ to base your assignment on. Here  Download Hereis the ASQ sample in English, and Here  Download Hereis the ASQ sample in Spanish.
In the first interview, you asked open-ended questions about pregnancy or newborn parenting in order to learn from “real-world” experiences. This is a form of qualitative research known as “ethnography”. In this type of research, the researcher is the learner, open to any information that might improve their understanding of a topic.
In this observation, you will practice another form of qualitative research, in which you will use a standardized questionnaire (survey) to gather specific data on a child’s development, as seen through the eyes of the parent (or primary caregiver). The screening instrument (survey) is the Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ), a research-based tool used by early childhood practitioners everywhere.
If you become an early childhood professional serving children 0-3, you will use this instrument on a regular basis.
STEP 1
To complete this assignment you will need:
1) A child who is the correct age for the observation tool which you will be using (see the options below)
2) The child’s parent (or very familiar caregiver)
3) ASQ Questionnaire (located in this module)
ASQ-3: 12, 18, 24 or 36 months
The ASQ-3 is an overall screening, including gross and fine motor, communication, problem-solving and more
ASQ-SE: 2: 12, 18, 24 or 36 months
The ASQ-SE:2 focuses on Social Emotional (SE) aspects of development, such as behaviors, personality, nutrition, sleep and more.
You will only complete an ASQ-3 or an ASQ-SE:2 for this assignment, not both.
STEP 2
Conduct your screening (in person, online, or over the phone).
Do not worry about “program information” or any other personal details on the form. You do not need to enter the data anywhere.
Take notes if you can’t print the form (but have it in front of you while you are completing the observation so you follow it exactly!)
STEP 3
Consult the text or the CDC milestones chartLinks to an external site. and compare your results.
STEP 4
Write a narrative addressing the following points:
How is this child doing overall?
What specific strengths emerged?
What specific areas for growth emerged?
What concerns or questions did the parent or caregiver have?
What was this process like for you?
What did you learn?
NOTE: You do not have to attach the screening form or your notes, however, please include:
1-Child’s date of birth and current age
2-Date of the screening/interview
Please, do not disclose the child, parent, or caregiver’s names! This is confidential information entrusted to you and you alone!
