The cases are available through a website connected to the primary textbook. These cases will help you begin to develop policy practice skills and approach policy practice from a strengths perspective.
Upon successful completion of this discussion, you will be able to:
Present self as a learner and engage clients and constituencies as experts of their own experiences.
Describe leadership principles related to social welfare.
Instructions
Review the rubric to make sure you understand the criteria for earning your grade.
Read the Carla Washburn Case Study.
Review the funding section of the interactive case and answer the questions.
What do you think are Mrs. Washburn’s major needs?
Identify at least three strengths she has that could help her meet these needs.
Identify resources in the community that could help Mrs. Washburn meet her needs.
What policies and programs are helping her meet her needs?
Can you identify any policies that are making it more difficult for her to meet her needs?
Your initial post is due by the end of the fourth day of the workshop.
Your initial post should be a minimum of 200 words.
Read and respond to at least two of your classmates’ posts, as well as all follow-up instructor questions directed to you, by the end of the workshop.
Your replies should be a minimum of 50 words.
Your posts should also:
Be well developed with clear answers and evidence of critical thinking.
