You and your Safety Team
at Alpha Zulu have worked hard all year. Now, you are planning your budget,
projects, and goals for the upcoming year. As your operation grows, the Vice
President of Safety recognizes that the safety team must launch a new safety
program for the upcoming year. You have been assigned to research which program
you want to adopt and present it to the Accountable Executive.
Since this proposal
requires many parts, your Vice President of Safety has split the project into
two parts. In the first part, she’d like you to address the following:
·       Describe the program you
want to launch (i.e., SMS, fatigue risk management, safety reporting, etc). Pick one of the four pillars.
“Safety Promotion”
·       What hazards and human
factors does it address? Also,
explain what a hazard is.
·       What part of Alpha
Zulu’s operation will this program support (i.e., maintenance, flight
operations, airport ops, etc.)?
·
What are the components and structure of the program? Research how and what.
·       How will this program be
scaled for the size of Alpha Zulu’s operation (you may choose the size of Alpha
Zulu)? Explained how to in
refernces provided.
·
What internal and external parties will this program
interface with, and how does it increase their level of safety? Think about what if, who, and
how.  Maintenance, Flight Crews, etc..
·       What resources (i.e.,
manpower, technology, etc.) will you need to launch this program?
·
The chosen safety program to adopt and discuss and present in a PowerPoint
presentation is Safety Promotion which is from the Safety Management System
(SMS).
It includes training, communication, and other actions to create a
positive safety culture within all levels of the workforce
Safety promotion activities within
the SMS framework include:
Providing SMS training
Advocating/strengthening a positive safety culture
System and safety communication and awareness
Matching competency requirements to system
requirements
Disseminating safety lessons learned
Everyone has a role in promoting safety
·
Organize these
components into a narrated presentation following these
guidelines:
·       A minimum of 12 slides Not counting the title slide and
reference slide.
·
Narration of slides should be no more than two minutes. Please provide just the speaker
notes for each slide, and I will narrate.
·       Avoid large amounts of
text (use bullet points and let your narration cover the details)
·       Please add suitable pictures
on each slide per APA guidelines.
This is Part 1 of the
final project. You will complete and resubmit this project in 9.2 Final Project: Expanding the Safety Footprint (Part 2).
