What information in these resources was helpful to you in creating your unit plan?
What did you learn that you didn’t know before?
How has this information impacted your thinking about the final design of your lesson plans and unit?
Do you think given what you’ve learned in this course that you would be interested in developing curriculum (not just individual units) for your future school? Why or why not?
Go back to the first discussion in Module 1 – look at your post regarding what you thought lesson planning and curriculum was about – how accurate were you?  What’s changed about your thinking? What knowledge have you added or confirmed?
MOD1 – RESPONSE
Curriculum to me is what we are supposed to be teaching students at the level we are teaching. Putting it in a format that is fun and engaging to those learning. Providing goals as to when these learning objectives are being taught, and then giving the students quizzes and assessments to determine if they have achieved those learning objectives.
My current educational experiences are that of an Teaching Assistant. I do everything that a Consult Teacher does, minus writing the IEP’s. I assist the teacher in engaging the students in the lesson. I have planned lessons, under the help of the lead teacher. I have also taught the plans I have made as well as taking over for the lead teacher when they are out. I teach and reteach Geometry, Earth Science and 10th grade Global History.
I do know a few parts of a lesson plan. The idea of the lesson and what the student is to learn from the lesson. The tools needed for the lesson. The actual teaching of the material. Then the assessment of learned material. I am sure I do not have all the parts.
I am not sure what I would like to teach that is outside the “norm” of education in an actual subject setting. Maybe how to properly care for, raise and feed chickens? I think this could be taught to anyone who wants to become owners of chickens.
To define these terms by using the words themselves…racial literacy in my opinion would mean learning about race and being literate in that. The other terms I am unsure of, but from the wording would take that it has to do with culture. Project based learning is something we use in our Extended Day Programming. I plan activities where students use projects to learn how to reach the object of the lesson. STEM activities are used to have students involved in the activity rather than just taking the lesson through lecture.
