1. Discuss the implementation issues for accounting for investments in debt and equity securities.
2. Discuss the major issues related to research and development.
3. Discuss about the issues related to intangible costs, particularly on prematurity periods and capitalized costs.
4. Discuss why we need to have goodwill, and the issues related to goodwill impairments.
Task 3: Critiques
1. Discuss about the pros and cons of major treatments on intangibles costs
2. Discuss about the treatment goodwill impairments, rather than amortization.

4. Main body. It should list in the following sequence of the report content: Introduction, summary of literature research, the required items, and your critiques. This main body should contain the three tasks listed in the topics.
5. Conclusion. List your findings. Provide your recommendations and suggestions, if any.
6. Reference. List all major reference sources, including our textbook and FASB ASC. (On separate pages)
7. Appendices, if any. List all your tables and graphs. For reference convenience, give a title to each separate item, such as Table 1.
Typesetting requirements:
1. Use 12 font size. Time New Roman is preferred.
2. One and half space between lines.
3. Number all pages, but the cover and abstract pages.
4. Single side printing, if printout (Only if you must turn in the report in person).
5. One inch on all sides.
6. Total page numbers: 15. (No more than 20 pages. These include all pages.)
