To write a good critical review, the writer needs to know about economic analysis in health care which is used for policy making.
Perform a critical assessment of the article, speaking to their quality and adherence to good research practices using appropriate checklists/standards such that laid out by the BMJ.
An introductory paragraph should summarize the article. Then introduce (and reference) the appropriate checklist (a suitable one used in the study design) that you will be using to perform your review. You could set up your review as a list, using a heading from each of the items in the checklist with sentences or bullet points below each to talk about whether the study accomplished that task well, only did a half-way job, or failed to mention it entirely. Support your statements with the reason.
Some checklists can be very long to cover a wide range of potential issues, some of which may not be applicable to the study. If this is true then, you can write N/A and include the reason (ie because it relates only to prospective design and your study is retrospective).
Finally, be sure to include a “Lessons Learned” paragraph
4-5 pages double spaced should suffice, but there’s no limit
You may find the two sample papers posted here very helpful as you get started.
Including your checklist for each article in your submission is highly recommended, though that wouldn’t be including in your total page count. Finally, discuss how each study contributes to our understanding of the topic and be sure to include a “Lessons Learned” paragraph (4-5 pages double spaced should suffice, but you are welcome to go longer).
