The city I chose was “ HORN LAKE MISSISSIPPI “ <—- the PAPER HAS TO BE DONE BEFORE MIDNIGHT Students will (unless physically restricted) take a 2 to 3-hour walking and driving tour in a specific neighborhood/zip code. 5 Friends - Students will meet Five new Friends in the community. 1 Food Spot - Students will discover and eat at One local Food shop or restaurant. 5 Gathering Places - Students will discover Five Favorite community gathering places which might serve as a place to build relationships. 1 Foot Tour - And students will take at least One long Foot tour of the neighborhood. Your goal is to get a behind-the-scenes feel for the community, discover who are the community leaders and influences. Explore human needs and opportunities to make a difference in the neighborhood. Students observation and reflection paper. The paper should include concerns and reflections on community needs, with conclusions and recommendations. Students may work in pairs and they may choose the same zip code as the one studied in the City Mapping Project below. Student can include a map and photos if you desire. Students will choose a zip code in Memphis to research as far as health, economy, mortality, infant mortality, crime, accessible community resources, spiritual resources, etc. The student will evaluate the zip code comparatively (locally and nationally) and present a plan for a comprehensive human and spiritual response to needs in that zip code. -The planning should include a recognizable application of class lectures, readings, terms, and references (at least three). -The paper should include a biblical vision for the response, a statement of objectives, a 5 to 10-year timeline for achieving the said goals, plans for collaboration with multiple churches, agencies and institutions, community leaders, and local businesses. -The paper should be 5-10 pages, should include a map or maps, and be presented aesthetically and persuasively, as if for a church or community meeting. -The final class period will be set aside for 15-minute presentations (maximum) by each student.
