In today’s society people are taking longer to get married and some don’t even get married at all. I believe that family play a big role in these decisions. I also believe that the media, music, laws, and peers are playing a role in breaking family cycles. I feel like less people are getting married because the things we hear and see, for example, music, a lot of famous artist switch girlfriend and wives like they switch the underwear. I do think that when we are children, we see our parents grow either together or apart, sometimes parents tend to be unhappy in their marriage, but they do it for the family. This is teaching your child to be loyal but also teaches them to take their time and be loyal to the right person. I am a type of person who learns from someone else mistake, I am not going to follow your footsteps If I don’t see anything positive coming out of it. I do feel like being single can change the family roles in society. With a single Mom running her home she is viewed by her children as the leader of the family, while some married families will have the dad as the leader of the family. So, when these children go into the world they will view society a bit different they probably don’t necessarily believe that men should be in charge of everything. As people continue to remain single and just build connects family will change for society, it will no longer be blood bonded or legally bonded, people will start considering more friends and significant others to be family without being married. Children will see single parents more and it will be more influential to the child if their parent is able to hold down the fort alone. Population may even decrease because taking care of children is hard and expensive and if your not willing to even get married there is no guarantee that you will want to procreate. ( 339)

The gender roles have changed drastically within the last generations. In the past family has been the goal and priority in life. Men had the goal to have many children with a wife. And women to take care of the kids and care for the household. However, in the present, people are more focused on personal growth. The sense of independence has fueled younger generations changing the way our society has worked. The sense of self-growth changes our society in many ways. People are now more focused on careers and health, putting the idea of family on hold. Some not wanting one at all. The opportunities of career and the growth in technology may improve. However, what is our future without children? Our future is not just for us. The future generations are compromised by the lack of adults wanting to form a family. It is important to inform how wonderful having a family is. How no matter how prepared people think you need to be to have a family, it will never be easy. But it will always be worth it. In my personal experience, people are always shocked to learn I have been married for 12 years. People always get excited to see a young couple last this long. Although I feel lucky to be in a healthy relationship. It makes me question what society is doing to make long term relationships so hard.
