Guidelines
Each student should select a patient/family with a specific health need to develop a teaching/learning activity designed to meet that need. Examples include health screening, health promotion, and health prevention
utilizing available technology. The activity to be developed should be tailored to the specific patient/family following the guidelines and rubric provided. The paper or report should be succinct and in APA format. The
educational activity should be attached to the paper, sent to clinical faculty via email or directions where to find the product, for example a link.
1. Information and communication technologies should be used to develop the activity based on the learning style and health literacy of the patient/family.
2. The activity should be developed considering the cultural, environmental, lifestyle and developmental issues of the patient/family.
3. The current best evidence should be used to guide the educational component of the activity.
4. Appropriate principles of teaching/learning should be used to guide the development of the activity. Any technology available to both the student and patient/family may be used to develop the activity (i.e.
YouTube, PowerPoint with voice, Skype, Podcast, web page, etc). You have to use technology that you have developed or created.
