As part of your literature review, you need to develop a convincing argument based on previous literature for the specific way in which you will apply the theory to address your chosen public health issue. This might lead you to develop an argument for applying/focusing on some components of the theory in your proposed study rather than others.

This means that your best starting point for designing a study that applies social cognitive theory to a public health issue is to find and read some research in this area to get a sense of what’s already been done.
