As part of the project, students will independently read and analyze a text of literary merit. Students will then use one of the major themes from the text as a springboard from which to research a real-world issue (racial discrimination and women empowerment), write a paper discussing this issue and possible solutions, and create a presentation demonstrating the knowledge they have gained as a result of completing the Senior Research Project. Through this process, students will apply their English Language Arts skills to the research of a real-world issue, encouraging students to think critically about the world they will face after graduation and preparing them to become lifelong learners and productive citizens in our society.
Students will organize their research and create an outline from which they will write a paper incorporating in- text citations and blended quotations. The final drafts of these papers will be typed and include a Works Cited page. Papers will be in MLA format. Students will follow scholarly standards;
